Job Description and Unit
The County Administrative Board is now seeking several field staff, approximately 6 people, for the field season of 2026, focusing on inventory work primarily in aquatic environments - for example, electrofishing, inventory of road culverts, mussel inventory, and measures in nature, such as combating invasive species.
We are looking for several people for seasonal employment with varying durations (2-5 months) starting at the end of May or as early as the end of April.
The current positions are primarily placed in the Environmental Analysis and Wildlife Management units. The unit works with environmental monitoring, invasive species, wildlife management, endangered species, liming and liming effect monitoring, and restoration of aquatic environments, and drives projects within these areas. Some of the positions may be shared with or entirely placed in the Protected Nature unit or the Water and Fishing unit.
Your Tasks
As field staff, you will perform one or more tasks that include various investigations of aquatic environments in the field, such as electrofishing, inventory of freshwater pearl mussels, combating invasive species, and inventory of migration barriers.
The work may also involve concrete water conservation work such as physical restoration of lakes and watercourses. Quality assurance and compilation of collected data as well as writing reports based on this are other types of tasks relevant to the positions. Other work-related tasks may also occur.
The work often involves long working days under field conditions, such as moving through terrain with field equipment, wading in running water, and working from a boat.
Overnight stays in other locations during the season may occur, and weekend work may be required. The County Administrative Board arranges introduction and training for the relevant tasks.
Your Qualifications
You have or have started a natural science education with a relevant focus or have fieldwork experience that the employer assesses as equivalent.
Practical work experience is meritorious. Particularly meritorious is experience in fieldwork within the areas included in the tasks, and/or if you have one or more of the following qualifications or certificates:
- Electrofishing certificate
- Brushcutter training
- Biotope mapping training and/or experience in action mapping
- Water sampling certificate
- Experience in physical restoration in watercourses (manual or machine)
- Inventory of freshwater pearl mussels
Experience working in the County Administrative Board's GIS portal and with software such as ArcGis Pro and/or with Field-maps and Survey 123 (GIS application in the field) is also meritorious.
The following is required for the positions:
- Driver's license B
- Basic knowledge of data management and the Office suite
- Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
Important personal qualities for the positions are the ability to collaborate and adapt to changing conditions. You need to be goal- and result-oriented and have the ability to take significant personal responsibility for your tasks.
